Northeast needs more elephants : TTR Weekly

BANGKOK, 11 April 2013: Northeast Thailand urgently needs new attractions to draw tourists, the Tourism Council of Thailand reported Wednesday.

It comes on the heels of proposals to revive theme park plans in Thailand, although the popular recommendations suggests the site should be no more than  80 to 100 km from Bangkok.

Northeast Thailand is one of the most neglected regions in tourism despite sharing borders with Laos and Cambodia and being an overland gateway to Vietnam.

TCT president, Piyaman Tejapaibul, said Northeast Thailand needs to compete with neighbouring countries and exploit its position as a gateway to the Mekong Region.
